Biography:

In 1977 I was given the best selling book: "A Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady" and from that early age I was hooked on Edith Holden's beautiful style of watercolour paintings, and reading her natures notes for 1906.

Margaret Tarrant was also an inspiration to me as I had books that she illustrated which captured my imagination with her flowers, animals, children, fairies and religious images.

This is where I found my initial influences for wildlife and art. Here is where I took my interest and started my keen hobby of painting and chose art & design, craft and textiles whilst at school.

As a teenager I was fascinated with make-up artistry and in the late 1980's I followed this keen interest to college and studied Hairdressing and Beauty therapy and later went on to work for a large make-over studio in Birmingham. I also worked for other companies, Christain Dior being one of them and went on to follow my artistic side, setting up my own business as a Make-up Artist in 1996.

In 1996 my husband and myself  moved to beautiful rural village in Shropshire which I love, enabling me to be closer to the countryside and natural world in which we live. I am passionate about nature and it's beauty.

I had been running my award winning make-up business for 24 years, specialising in Bridal make-ups, photo shoots, and fitting my painting hobby in around my work.

However, in the last five years, I have taken my painting more seriously, with family and friends positively encouraging me after seeing each painting I produced.

I enjoy painting in watercolour, acrylics and pastel and I am now exploring different media.

I am inspired by the countryside and wildlife in Shropshire where I live, as well as places further away, which enables me to create beautifully illustrated art that reflects my love of nature and wildlife.

I am a supporter of the Shropshire Wildlife Trust and an activist for nature. I also like to support Cuan, my local wildlife rescue centre.

My work has been sold to friends and at many Exhibitions held locally, so apart from enjoying my art, it also gives me so much pleasure that someone wishes to hang my work in their home.

Owning a piece of my original art, is to own something unique, affordable and created by my love of nature, and I also portray "Nature Activism" in some of my work.

I make charitable donations from the sale of my works to supported causes.
